Art 4 Veterans Herefordshire (A4VH) was established in 2020 by Paul Crow and Karen Bourke. In association with Hereford Veterans Support Centre and Defence Medical Welfare Services.

We provide art classes free of charge to serving personnel and Veterans of the armed forces and emergency services.

Based at Hinton Community Centre and supported greatly by Vince McNally (MBE) the class runs for 3 hours every Thursday.

The group is very friendly and welcoming, a big creative family that supports one another. The overall atmosphere is relaxed and fun with a feel-good factor that creates a sense of belonging to the group for all. Many have forged supportive relationships and continued their friendships by doing activities outside the group. There is always plenty of banter, tea, coffee and let’s not forget the biscuits but occasionally one of the group members, who was a chef in the Army brings in homemade scones and muffins, so it really is the place to be creative with great company and lots of fun!

There is no judgement of artistic ability as we believe that the process of being creative with like-minded people, is more important than the overall goal!

We also have creative days out and holidays to visit gallery exhibitions and have taken part in artist-led workshops in print, paint, paper construction and ceramics.

“I have absolutely no doubt in my mind whatsoever that this art group in its entirety has helped me 100% it has given me a reason to go on and get up in the morning. I look forward to each and every session it has really helped improve my mental health!
